History: The Bible was first translated into Bulgarian in 1828, and underwent several revisions and new editions in the following years. In 1871 the Tsarigrad (Constantinople) edition was published, making the Bible available in the Eastern (Tarnovo) dialect. A new Orthodox translation was published in 1995 and several new Protestant versions have been published in the last 20 years.
